Fall at the B & B on Broadway

B&B Buzz

The feeling of fall is in the air at the B & B on Broadway with cool nights, pumpkins on porches, and harvests of apples, peaches, and kale. The tastes of fall are definitely on our breakfast table. Guests enjoy our bacon, cheddar cheese, and kale frittata; peaches & cream muffins; pumpkin spice muffins; apple crumble muffins; apple cinnamon pancakes; and more. After breakfast, there’s time to sip coffee or tea on the porch in autumn’s warm sun and bright colors.

Around the House

We’ve been busy working on steps to porches too! A few years ago, the steep brick step from the sidewalk on Broadway Street to our walkway washed away in a storm. We built two low rise pink cement steps in its place. Guests and neighbors have admired the color and ease of use. The stone retaining wall that borders both sides of these steps still stands. The stone wall was made from stones salvaged from the first Winneshiek County Courthouse built in 1858, and located diagonally (then and now) from the B & B on Broadway. 

We are working on designing and building a set of pink cement steps for the back porch.  These will be slightly curved with high curved walls so they invite you to walk up or sit down to enjoy the backyard.
